Scholiki Corporation (“Scholiki,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides an online educational platform designed to help students learn, practice, and improve their understanding of academic subjects. Scholiki provides its services both (1) through colleges, universities, learning management systems (“LMSs”), and other educational institutions, and (2) directly to students and other individual users.
We believe students should be able to learn without giving up unnecessary personal information. We therefore seek to collect only the information reasonably necessary to provide, improve, secure, and support Scholiki.

Where applicable, Scholiki operates as a service provider acting on behalf of the educational institution and processes such information in accordance with its agreement with that institution and applicable law.
Scholiki uses FERPA-protected education records received from educational institutions solely for authorized educational purposes and does not use those records for advertising, marketing, or unrelated commercial activities.
Students seeking to exercise rights concerning education records maintained by or on behalf of their educational institution should generally contact that institution directly. Privacy requests relating to information collected through a direct-to-student Scholiki account may be submitted to Scholiki as described in Section 12 below.
4. Artificial Intelligence
Scholiki uses or may use artificial intelligence technologies to support teaching, tutoring, assessment, explanations, hints, feedback, problem variations, grading, and personalized learning assistance. Student answers may be evaluated by automated AI systems hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) or supported by approved service providers.
Information submitted during a learning activity may be processed by Scholiki systems and by service providers that support these AI functions. AI services may analyze student responses, assignments, questions, conversations, and learning-progress information.
Scholiki does not sell student learning data to AI companies. Where third-party AI providers process information on our behalf, we seek to limit the information provided to what is reasonably necessary for the relevant function and require service providers to process information in accordance with our agreements with them.
We seek to avoid sending directly identifying student information to AI models when it is not necessary to provide the educational function. Scholiki does not knowingly use FERPA-protected education records obtained through educational institutions to train publicly available artificial intelligence models unless expressly authorized by the educational institution.
5. How We Disclose Information
Scholiki does not sell personal information or student learning data. We may disclose information in the following circumstances.

Scholiki does not sell student learning data. We do not sell students’ problem attempts, answers, grades, mastery information, or educational activity to data brokers, and we do not use student learning data to build advertising profiles for third parties.
If Scholiki’s practices regarding advertising or data sharing materially change, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any notices or choices required by applicable law.
7. Data Minimization and De-Identified Information
Scholiki seeks to collect and retain only information reasonably necessary to provide, secure, support, and improve the service. Where appropriate, we may use pseudonymous, tokenized, aggregated, or de-identified information instead of directly identifying information.

Users may unsubscribe from promotional email communications by following the unsubscribe instructions included in those messages. Unsubscribing from promotional communications will not prevent us from sending necessary service or security communications.
12. Your Privacy Choices and Rights

- Restrict or opt out of certain processing, uses, or disclosures where applicable

Some information may need to be retained for legal, security, educational-record, contractual, or other legitimate purposes. FERPA does not itself provide a right to delete accurate education records.
To submit a privacy request concerning a direct Scholiki account, contact us at contact@scholiki.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests. If your Scholiki account is provided through an educational institution, requests concerning education records may need to be submitted directly to that institution.
13. California Residents
California residents may have additional rights under applicable California privacy laws. Depending on whether those laws apply to Scholiki and the information involved, these rights may include rights to know, access, correct, or delete personal information and rights relating to certain sales or sharing of personal information.
Scholiki does not discriminate against users for exercising applicable privacy rights. Requests may be submitted using the contact information in Section 18 below.
14. Children’s Privacy
Scholiki’s direct-to-student service is intended for college and university students and other users 13 years of age or older. It is not directed to children under 13, and individuals under 13 may not create a direct Scholiki account.
If we learn that we have collected personal information directly from a child under 13 in circumstances requiring parental consent without obtaining the required consent, we will take appropriate steps to delete the information. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information directly to Scholiki, please contact us at contact@scholiki.com.
Different requirements may apply when Scholiki is provided through an educational institution. Where required by law or institutional arrangement, Scholiki relies on the educational institution to obtain appropriate permissions for student participation.
